Kadme signs contract with the Hydrocarbon National Agency of Colombia
Bogota’, Colombia, 11th August 2008.
Kadme has signed a contract with the ANH, the Hydrocarbon National Agency of Colombia, for the development of a new front-end for the EPIS data repository.
EPIS is the Colombian Petroleum Data Bank in charge of administrating the technical E&P data of the country, being the unique official repository.
It has more than 1.450.000 units of digital data, plus 820.000 physical units.
It provides storage, custody and data delivery services to geoscientists and potential investors to carry out research and hydrocarbon exploratory investment projects in Colombia.
The data repository was put in place when the national oil company Ecopetrol was in charge of the administration of the oil and gas activities of the country.
The creation of the ANH in 2003 by the Colombian Minister of Mines and Energy initiated a transformation of Colombia into a country more attractive to national and foreign investors in the oil and gas sector. Between 2009 and 2015, Colombia expects to receive more than $16 billion in mining and energy investments, according to finance minister Oscar Zuluaga (http://www.upstreamonline.com/live/article167193.ece). To be able to meet this goal, the EPIS data repository is envisaged to become the primary vehicle for the country to promote exploration opportunities and attracting investments from oil and gas companies.
As part of the contract, Kadme will deploy and customise its WhereOil software to provide a modern, fast and easy-to-use system that will allow current operators and potential new investors to search and order E&P information available in the country. The new system is scheduled to be in production in September-October 2009.
