Explore a world
of diverse data
Oil and gas data is collected throughout the asset lifecycle: from exploration and production through to abandonment and beyond. Over time, an operation will generate a mass of interconnected data that grows in value as it reveals more about the asset.
The Whereoil software platform enables you to explore this world of diverse data, giving you a clearer insight and helping to boost the value and productivity of your assets.

This productive, day-to-day environment features a fast and powerful search engine that runs queries across billions of records and delivers the answers you need – including structured and unstructured data.
Whereoil cuts across traditional discipline and data silos and unites your corporate assets. It enables you to switch easily between a bird’s-eye view for locating information and a focused result view for examining specific data in detail.
The Whereoil interface is modern, flexible and easy to use.
Whereoil indexes information from multiple sources and presents the result through a single, unified access point. Data access for each user is defined and controlled by corporate privileges settings. Working seamlessly with your existing IT setup, Whereoil can standardize data management operations while respecting the differences between discipline domains and accommodating the source-specific data structures and requirements.
Its modular approach makes the solution flexible and scalable to organization size, company structure and enterprise needs. Work processes, rules, relationships and governance are built in to ensure data consistency and quality. Users can subscribe to data feeds that will inform them when new data is available.
Whereoil also provides a geotagging and georeferencing function for documents and files. This enables searches to locate, view and retrieve information quickly for any specific location, whether by keywords or area of interest.
Whereoil offers a range of powerful and flexible workflows to meet the needs of data managers and users. These workflows help to boost productivity by delivering valid information that enhances your decision making.
Value for data managers
Data managers want to ensure that users have quick, reliable access to all datasets and need to know that information is validated and kept up to date. Whereoil is designed to help data managers to address these issues and to boost the value of asset data.
The Whereoil application programming interface (API) makes it possible to access Whereoil data and create new business application extensions, for example, statistical analyses and reports.
The Whereoil application program interface (API) has been used to create the License Analyzer. The application extracts and combines public data to show which operating companies and partners have been awarded which licenses on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The License Analyzer application enables you to explore license blocks over time and see how the license operator or partner history has evolved.
The pictures from the License Analyzer application shows the increase of licenses blocks in the Southern North Sea from 1980 to today (left to right). By selecting a license block the history of the block is highlighted.
Go to License analyzer to see how the API has been used. You can explore a company's licenses, locations, and history on Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Whereoil 4 features a wealth of new functions and capabilities to improve your understanding of your task. It offers faster and more flexible searching, increased usability and front-end configuration options, a new viewer for well logs and a module for controlling well-log quality during loading or when new data is discovered in the system.
Powerful search capabilities with spatial queries
The geosearch functionality brings project data and scattered reports and files together geographically. Georeferencing and geotagging of documents associate their information with a specific location and link it to other project information.
Enhanced user configuration and increased usability
In Whereoil 4, users can define and create a company-specific entry page with graphs and charts to monitor operations such as file downloads and data throughput. Each Whereoil user can have a profile that enables the definition and saving of table views, for example, column sequence and column hiding. When conducting a filtered search, Whereoil 4 uses colors to highlight queries and make it easi
Improved well log insight – New viewer and quality flags
The built-in viewers in Whereoil let you quickly assess the status of the data you have found before downloading it or entering it into a project. The new Whereoil Log View shows logs in an industry-standard format and lets you perform thorough quality checks on the log curves through functionality such as edit curve appearance, scaling, zooming, add or delete curves from view and thumbnail view. It has also been updated to preview LIS/DLIS files.
The Log QC module analyzes the information on loading and creates flags to indicate where there are problems with log headers (metadata) and curves, for example, curve values that are out of range and washouts. The quality control (QC) flags can be seen as part of the standard table view and used to filter the searches. If Log View is available, the flags will be shown in the log track or in a separate track with an explanation.
The Connectors that link you to your data are very important parts of Whereoil. These Connectors crawl and index your data sources regularly, thereby making all data accessible to key applications. This enables you to access data easily from a vast range of sources, including files on network shares, document management systems, application data and external data sources.

Agile, flexible and scalable to the needs of your organization, Whereoil offers core functionality (search structure, visualization, security and an API) that can be extended or integrated to meet your requirements. You can decide how and what to connect to the core so that the system meets the needs of your organization and fits with your data structures and sources.
A typical Whereoil software installation can be designed, put in place and made fully operational within a few weeks, including crawling of different data sources. KADME offers full support during installation and deployment to help companies quickly realize the benefits of advanced data integration.
Users can adapt the core Whereoil technology to develop tailored solutions that address specific data management challenges that arise in collaborative, joint-industry projects and within individual companies.
GeoTracker is a well-log data tracker developed to simplify the well-reporting process of a major Norwegian operator. It facilitates reporting of well data to the regulatory authorities through its monitoring functionality. This provides the broadest possible overview for tracking well log data information, wherever it resides.
Based on KADME’s Whereoil framework, the GeoTracker system consists of two main components. The first manages reporting requirements, thereby enabling administrators to define the entire reporting workflow. The second monitors the process to ensure that users can view the reporting status at any time. All tasks are tracked and shared with the relevant parties.
The KADME training and support team has significant experience and domain expertise in data management and IT. Dedicated technical project managers ensure successful client installations and initial training.
